Christmas Party!

Our Woven Together Christmas Party is fast approaching! Join us Tuesday December 2, 2008 from 6-8pm. The party will be held in the Atrium of The Chapel’s Green Campus. This will be a fun family event filled with food, fellowship and games.

We are collecting new, empty duffel bags or backpacks to donate to foster kids in Summit County who are moving from one placement to another. Please consider participating. We are also having an ornament exchange that night. If you would like to participate, bring a wrapped ornament for each person in your family who would like to join in the fun.

Cost for the family dinner, which will include pizza, salad, chips, drinks, and dessert, is $15.

National Adoption Month

Also, a reminder that we are in need of representatives to stand at the display tables at the Akron and Green Campuses of The Chapel. The displays are done, and thanks to the pictures that all of you sent in, they are beautiful. The dates are tomorrow, Nov. 2 and also Sunday Nov. 16. If you can help, contact us here.

Okay Everyone, We need your help!

We have just learned that in coordination with National Adoption Month, The Chapel would like to do a 2-Sunday focus on adoption/orphans & our ministry. In order to make this an effective spotlight, we need your help. Here is what we need:

1. Please send a picture of your family or your children (you choose) to be included on presentation boards that will be displayed at the Akron and Green Campuses. Pictures must be received by TUESDAY OCTOBER 28, sorry no exceptions.

2. Also, on Sunday November 2 and Sunday November 16, we need people from our group to stand at Woven Together tables at the Akron and Green Campuses, all venues. Whether or not you attend at The Chapel or whether or not you have already adopted we need you. Here are the time slots/locations:

Akron Campus Sunday Nov. 2 and Nov. 16:

Table setup outside Worship Center, 8:45 am-
Representatives at table following 9am service and until 10:40 service begins, Worship Center
Table setup outside Resonate, 8:45 am-
Representatives at Resonate Table, following 9am service and then take down table-
Representatives following 10:40 service at Worship Center-
Representatives following illuminate service (which starts at 6:40pm) and to take down table-

Many of us have been praying for an All-Church spotlight on God’s love for orphans and adoption for many years. We are so thankful and excited to have this window of opportunity to show God’s providence and goodness in our lives and the lives of our children. We have no idea how far-reaching the impact of these tables, the sermon, or the spotlight will be. Please come be a part.

On October 7 at 6:30, we have a very special meeting scheduled for everyone, no matter where you are in the process. Stephanie P., born in El Salvador and adopted at a very young age, will be sharing with us from her perspective as an adoptee. I/we had an opportunity to hear Stephanie speak in January and was riveted, touched, reassured, and in stitches all at the same time. I am sure you will be, too.

This is a meeting NOT to be missed!

As always, we will meet at The Chapel’s Green Campus, Atrium Room 123. Childcare will be provided, and we would appreciate an RSVP so we know how many children to plan for.

I will post a reminder again in a week or so.

Sept 2 Meeting Recap

Last night our group hosted Mike Kenney, Shannon Deinhart, and Diana Starks from the Waiting Child Fund. Here are a few bullet points about The Waiting Child Fund that we heard from Mike:

Waiting Child Fund seeks financial sponsorships for Foster Children in Summit County from businesses and individuals.
Waiting Child Fund is not a placing agency, but seeks to fill the financial gap that exists to recruit families for children who might otherwise age out of the foster care system. Waiting Child Fund collaborates with private placing agencies to recruit families for these children.
100% of the money donated toward a child’s sponsorship is appropriated to the recruitement of his/her family. Waiting Child Fund uses other means to raise funds for their administrative costs.
As foster/adoptive families, we can help Waiting Child Fund by raising awareness about the fund and talking about the fund in our networks, by donating to a child’s sponsorship if we feel so led, even by offering prayer support to a specific child/children being sponsored by the fund.

Cinnamon Leonard and Family have received the referral of a Baby Boy who is waiting in Vietnam. Please pray for a smooth and quick conclusion to the process

September Meeting

Our Ice Cream Social in August was much fun, and though the sky threatened rain kids and adults alike had fun playing outside and catching up after the summer break. Oh, and the ice cream sundaes were delicious!

On Tuesday September 2 we will be hosting Mike Kenney from the Waiting Child Fund, which seeks to raise awareness for foster children who are aging out of the system. Woven Together Ice Cream Social

Join us on Tuesday August 5 from 7-8:30pm for an Ice Cream Social. The Ice Cream Social will be held at The Chapel’s Green Campus and the cost is $5 per family to cover the ice cream and toppings bar.

We will meet in the Sr. High Room and, weather permitting, go outside for games, fun and socializing!
